Relief for Victims of Crimes and Domestic Violence

U.S. Immigration Law allows for relief for victims of certain serious crimes, including domestic violence.  The U-Visa is available to victims of certain crimes who have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and are willing to assist in the investigation or prosecution of the criminal activity.  The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) allows for female and male victims of domestic violence to apply for legal immigration status if their spouse is a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.

For more detailed information, visit our page on U-Visas and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
