L-1 Employee Visas

Aretz and Chisholm Immigration is available to help managers and executives working abroad for companies with ties to the U.S. in their application for a L-1 visa. The requirements for obtaining an L-1 visa can be tricky and confusing, but Aretz and Chisholm Immigration is able to provide clear guidance and insight throughout the application process.

An L-1 visa is available to an alien employee who works for a business abroad which is a parent, branch, affiliate, or subsidiary of a U.S. company, and who wishes to temporarily transfer within the company. This non-immigrant visa gives an alien employee permission to enter the U.S. in order to continue working for the same employer for a fixed duration of time.

In order to be eligible for an L-1 visa, the alien must work for the business abroad for at least one continuous year within the three years preceding an application for admission to the U.S. He or she must also be a manager, an executive, or must have “specialized knowledge” to justify their temporary transfer. An L-1A visa is available to alien employees who are employed as managers or executives within a company. An L-1B visa is available to alien employees who have “specialized knowledge,” either within a specific field, or about a specific product or service.

Aretz & Chisholm Immigration is available to assist you if you are an employee executive or manager, or if you have specialized knowledge and you are working abroad for a company with ties to the U.S. and considering a temporary transfer to the United States. Contact Aretz & Chisholm Immigration today to set up a consultation regarding your immigration case to determine eligibility and to discuss the application process.
